Eye GlassesGlasses

Glasses, also known as eyeglasses (formal), spectacles or simply specs (informal), are frames bearing lenses worn in front of the eyes. They are normally used for vision correction or eye protection. Safety glasses are a kind of eye protection against flying debris or against visible and near visible light or radiation. Sunglasses allow better vision in bright daylight, and may protect against damage from high levels of ultraviolet light.
Safety glasses are usually made with shatter-resistant plastic lenses to protect the eye from flying debris. Some safety glasses are designed to fit over corrective glasses or sunglasses. They may provide less eye protection than goggles or other forms of eye protection, but their light weight increases the likelihood that they will actually be used. Modern safety glasses tend to be given a more stylish design in order to encourage their use. Corrective glasses with plastic lenses can be used in place of safety glasses in many environments; this is one advantage that they have over contact lenses.

Types of Glasses :

Monofocal GlassMonofocal Glasses
Monofocal intraocular lenses have one point of focus. Monofocal intraocular lenses can be used to give clear point of focus in the distance or close up, but you can only choose one focal point. Glasses provide extra lens power which enables focussing at other points in space, such as close up for reading.

Bifocal GlassesBifocal Glasses
As people age, their ability to focus is lessened and many decide to use multiple-focus lenses, which can be bifocal or even trifocal, to cover all the situations in which they use their sight. Traditional multifocal lenses have two or three distinct viewing areas, each requiring a conscious effort of refocusing.

Multifocal GlassesMultifocal Glasses
These eyeglass frames can be fitted with Multifocal Lenses and made into Multifocal glasses. Multifocal lenses are also called progressive lenses, provide vision correction from distance through intermediate to near progresively. Allow you to see distance, intermediate and near in one lens.

Transition GlassesTransition Glasses
These are photochromic lenses that are clear until dangerous ultraviolet radiation (UV) is present. Once outdoors, the brighter the sun, the darker Transitions lenses become. They turn as dark as sunglasses by automatically reacting to the intensity of UV radiation.
